Colin Breed has been Liberal Democrat MP for South East Cornwall for 12 years and has recently been campaigning for better NHS Dental services for the area, halting a rise of the Tamar bridge toll, lowering water and utility bills, as well as fighting to keep rural Post Offices open.
Colin Breed MP will be standing down at the next election and Karen Gillard PPC has been selected by the local party to replace him. Campaigning alongside Colin on many issues that are facing South East Cornwall, Karen hopes to continue the work of the Lib Dems and build upon Colin's action in the past 12 years.
The constituency covers 21 complete Cornwall Council Wards; the Liberal Democrats representing Liskeard Central, Liskeard South and Dobwalls, Looe West and Lansallos, Saltash Burraton, Saltash Essa, Saltash St Stephens, St Cleer, St Ive and Torpoint West.
Cornwall Council Liberal Democrats are pushing forward on manifesto pledges including; tackling parking charges, keeping council tax down, striving to freeze councillors' allowances, bringing affordable housing to the area and improving local recycling provision.
South East Cornwall Liberal Democrats are committed to fighting for the best deal for our area and championing the needs of local people.

Up to 3,300 pensioners in the South East Cornwall will miss out on Cold Weather Payments despite recent freezing conditions, according to a Liberal Democrat analysis of Government figures.

Late last week Colin Breed, Member of Parliament for South East Cornwall met with colleagues for the UK charity Wild Futures, based at the Monkey Sanctuary near Looe, to petition Number 10 Downing Street to ensure that the Primate Code passes through Parliament before the General Election.

Colin Breed, Liberal Democrat MP for South East Cornwall has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Alistair Darling MP, asking him to consider differing alcohol duty levels for draught and non-draught products. It is hoped such a system would reduce the burden on pub landlords at what is a troubling time for the industry as a whole.

Colin Breed, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for South East Cornwall recently wrote to the Department of Transport regarding rumours of possible toll increases on the Tamar Bridge Crossing between Saltash and Plymouth. The letter mentions that Cornwall and Plymouth Councils must apply directly to the Secretary of State to revise toll charges, and that as formal objections to the original proposals have been received a Public Inquiry will need to be held.

Colin Breed, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for South East Cornwall has today spoken out over the lack of an NHS dentist in Saltash. Over the summer, the last dentist offering NHS treatment wrote to his patients saying he could no longer afford to treat non-private patients. The decision leaves Cornwall's sixth largest town without free dental care, and forces patients to choose between going private or going to the nearest NHS dentists in Plymouth, Torpoint or Launceston.
