Cornwall Council Results

South East Cornwall Liberal Democrats represent the South East Cornwall parliamentary constituency. The area stretches from the River Tamar, Cornwall's southerly border with Devon, to beyond the River Fowey in the West. The constituency's Northern border skirts the large, rural ward of St Neot and St Cleer to the North West, and the town of Callington and the villages of Gunnislake and Calstock in the North East.

The constituency covers 22 Cornwall Council Wards, and Liberal Democrats represent Liskeard Central, Liskeard South and Dobwalls, Looe West and Lansallos, Saltash Burraton, Saltash Essa, Saltash St Stephens, St Cleer, St Ive and Torpoint West. Cornwall Council Liberal Democrats are pushing forward on manifesto pledges including; tackling parking charges, keeping council tax down, bringing affordable housing to the area and improving local recycling provision.

Colin Breed has been Liberal Democrat MP for South East Cornwall for 10 years and has recently been campaigning for better NHS services for the area, lower water and utility bills and fairer local taxation.

South East Cornwall Liberal Democrats are committed to fighting for the best deal for our area and championing the needs of local people.

The Government is being pressured by Liberal Democrat MPs to bring forward changes to water bills to cut them for most South West water customers, following a further above inflation rise in bills. South West water bills, set by the water regulator OFWAT, have been far the highest in the country since water was privatised by the Conservatives in the 1980s.

Cornish MPs support the fuel poverty bill

Cornwall's Liberal Democrat MPs will be in Parliament tomorrow to lend their support to a new parliamentary bill aimed at ending fuel poverty. The Fuel Poverty Bill, tabled by David Heath, Liberal Democrat MP for Somerton and Frome, receives Second Reading on Friday 20th March and calls for a massive home insulation programme intended to halve the energy needed to heat the average home.
