Local residents in Liskeard have spoken out on car parking charges after the Conservatives proposed a massive 300% increase in the first hour of car parking.

There have been dozens of responses to a recent petition carried out by South East Cornwall Lib Dems. The outcome of the petition showed overwhelmingly support for the current 10p for one-hour charge.

Some of the comments given by local shoppers include "Help keep Liskeard Alive" "Lower car parking charges really help with my weekly bills" and many simply thank the Lib Dems for giving back to the community.

Commenting on the recent petition, Cllr Jay Schofield says, " It is vital to give as many Local people as possible an opportunity to have their say on car parking charges. Its clear that local Residents want vibrant town and village centres and that by keeping the 10p charge we are supporting local traders and shoppers"

Cllr Schofield has handed his petition to Caradon District Council, and like many local residents, is calling on all local Councillors to support the continuation of the popular 10p rate.
