As FA officials made their second visit to assess Plymouth's football World Cup plans, South West MEP Grahams Watson threw his weight behind the region's bid to be at the forefront of England's 2018 campaign.

Watson came out in support of both the Plymouth and Bristol applications, signing up to campaigns on the official 2018 bid website and on social networking site Facebook. He believes that bringing the World Cup to the South West will attract welcome visitors and attention from around the globe.

He said;

"I am constantly telling friends and colleagues in Brussels just how wonderful the region that I represent is. If their bids are successful, Bristol and Plymouth will have a great opportunity to showcase the South West on the world stage."

"I am pleased to lend my support to both applications and I encourage others to back the bids online, just as I have done today."
